Board of Commissioners

The Ronda Board of Commissioners is composed of a mayor and five commissioners who are elected at large for four-year, staggered terms. The Mayor, who is chosen on a separate ballot, presides over Town Board meetings and serves as the ceremonial head of government. The Mayor does not have the power to veto Board action and can only vote in the event of a tie.

In the absence or disability of the Mayor, the Mayor Pro Tempore performs the Mayoral duties. The Mayor Pro-Tem is appointed by the members of the Board of Commissioners. The Board of Commissioners determines the needs to be addressed and the degree of service to be provided by the administrative branch of Town government.

The Board of Commissioners' duties includes:

  • Deciding what services should be provided to the citizens and how to pay for the services
  • Appointing Town Management Staff Members and approving new positions
  • Designating the Clerk to the Board
  • Adopting an annual budget
  • Setting the property tax rate
  • Setting the water service rate
  • Establish service levels for:
  • Emergency Services
  • Little Free Library
  • Public Safety
